My story doesn’t include glitz and glamor….just a mom trying to find herself again.
While being a stay at home mom, who dabbled in a few different work at home ventures, I strived to find who I was outside of being a mom. Don’t get me wrong, I love being a mom and I will forever be grateful that I was able to be a stay at home mom for 16 years, but I felt like my identity was only ‘mom” and not Liz.
Growing up in central Pennsylvania, I found love for interiors, fashion, and art in my teenage years. I believe it came from the constant looking at cornfields, cows, and horse & buggies. So a few years ago I opened a home decor store in a nearby town. I loved that little store, but life had other plans for me. We closed the store after my health declined and since then I’ve yearned for more. I was losing who I was again.
One day, while my daughter was looking for dorm decor, she found these really cute signs, but they weren’t quite in her budget. It was at that time that I realized I could make her signs (obviously not those same designs) and print them out at CVS. She got so many compliments on them that I decided to continue making prints and that’s where Freckled Quill Prints was born.
About 10 months after that, on a Saturday afternoon, I was redecorating our home and I used vintage books in multiple places throughout our home. I loved pairing the different books together. It was then that I had the idea to curate colored vintage book stacks and sell them. We rebranded and then became The Curated Mercantile; an online home decor shop where I offer vintage colored book stacks and digital wall prints.
More about Liz
I am Liz; wife, mom, business owner, blogger, interior designer, flour wearer, hand holder, whisk licker, kitchen dancer, mint lover, life traveler.
I’m a hopeless romantic who cries during almost any movie I watch no matter the genre. I also cry when I watch sports, especially the Olympics, because I love when people’s dreams come true.
I’m a true introvert and love nothing more than staying home, watching reruns of Hart of Dixie and cuddling up on the chaise with my dogs, Winston and Moose .
