This week we are covering focal points in your booth or store. What’s a focal point? A focal point is the main display feature that helps guide the shopper’s eye to your products.
It is your job to show a product to customers so they know what your style is. When establishing a strong focal point, you need to figure out what you’re trying to get across to the customer. What is the design of your booth intended to do? To sell products, right? It needs to give inspiration so the customer can see your items in their home.
The focal point of your booth needs to be at the back of your space (typically in the center) and should be large, outstanding, and visually strong. It needs to draw the customer’s eye all the way into the space.
It could be a big hutch, stacking chairs and other items on a table, an architectural piece, artwork….whatever it is will be your backdrop and everything else in the space will be built around it.
A great focal point draws the customer’s eye into your retail space. It calls the customer to walk to the back and explore all the goodies you have brilliantly merchandised. It should be merchandised above and around. Ideally, your focal point would have no doors so that customers can see more items freely.
Depending on your booth’s layout, it may actually need a front focal point instead, but you should always have one against the back wall offset a smidge to the side of the front one as well to help encourage customers to come into your space.
What type of items to you like to you for focal points in your booth or store?
